I find this flash very versatile and the round head gives a more pleasing and natural spread of light than a traditional rectangular output does.Menus are easy to understand and changing settings not too difficult once you get accustomed to it.It comes with an in-built modelling light, which whilst it isn't indicitive of the final flash power output, I find it very handy for obtaining autofocus lock and just seeing what I am photographing in otherwise quite dark conditions!The round head has a metal rim which allows for the magnetic modifiers (sold separately) to easily and quickly attach to. I've got the AK-R1 kit which gives lots of options for changing the light.The V1 features a channel scan ability so you can easily see what channels are least congested on the 2.4ghz radiowave spectrum (one that can be quite congested with routers etc.) when you want to use the flash off-camera with a transmitter. The V1 can also trigger other flashes as a commander itself.The head tilts all the way back and also rotates almost the entire 360° so it gives you plenty of directional capabilities for bouncing the light when used on-camera.The battery lasts ages so doesn't require charging often. I can go from 100% charge and use it quite extensively on a wildlife day trip, doing multiple focus-stacks, firing around 50 bursts each time, and still only depleted the first battery 'segment' of three. It comes with one battery and a compact plug-in charger. The charge takes around 3.5 hours so I just tend to top the battery up the night before I know I'll be heading out.Being that the charger is powered by a USB-C to USB-A lead, you could also take the charger with you and power from a powerbank for versatility, but as mentioned... you probably won't need to charge that often!The flash comes with a really nice soft but protective carry case, for when you are not using and want to store it. Also in the box is a simple x-shaped stand for the flash when using off-camera, either freestanding, or attaching to a tripod/stand via the threaded socket on the bottom of the stand.The firmware of the V1 unit is upgradable and easy to do. There is a USB-C socket on the flash and you just use the associated software and files available from the godox website.An excellent, full-powered and versatile speedlight flash that offers many creative possibilities, particularly with the extra add-ons available. I really like it, and look forward to maybe trying the diffuser dome/softbox for the V1 next!
